Loving Hut - Hurray for the First Vegan Restaurant in Mauritius!

When I heard about the opening of a vegan restaurant in Mauritius, I was firstly quite inquisitive. Really? A vegan restaurant in Mauritius? Like a 100% vegan place where I can just walk in and have anything from the menu?
That's correct!

Loving Hut is the first 100% vegan restaurant to open in Mauritius in the heart of China town in Port Louis.

I am extremely delighted that we now have a pure vegan restaurant in Mauritius!
I love the feeling of entering a restaurant knowing you can basically order anything from the menu without the need to confirm the ingredients with a waiter/waiteress who, most of the time, doesn't know what vegan is!

I am not in Mauritius at the moment to go and try the food but this is definitely the first thing on my agenda next time I'm there.
In the meantime I can share these pictures with you. (Pictures are kindly supplied by Veronique Reynoird © Loving Hut).

From the photos, the food looks really delicious. And a few feedbacks from facebook friends, have confirmed the food is really tasty indeed. I'm so eager to go and try it!

The restaurant is a buffet style currently very reasonably priced at Rs150 per person (that's about $5.40, £3.30 or less than 4 EUR).

If you're in Mauritius at the moment, do pay them a visit for lunch. Or if you're planning a trip to Mauritius, you now know one place where to find vegan food. They are open Monday to Saturday:
10.30 - 14.30. You can find them on Facebook.

Their address is Loving Hut, Heritage Court, Emmanuel Anquetil Street (in Chinatown, parallel to Arsenal Street), Port Louis, Mauritius.
On googlemap, their location is here.

  6. Hi Lea,

No, veganism is not associated with sects, it is a lifestyle that a lot of people have chosen to adhere to for various reasons. Some do it for health, others for compassion, allergies, weight loss, it depends on the person.
It so happens that people of the sect that you mention here are vegan but veganism is not limited to religious sects.
It is just a choice, there are a lot of other sects that consume meat, that doesn't mean that eating flesh is associated with any sect whatsoever. It is just a matter of choice and what works best for the individual.

  7. I can't see my comment... censored?

    It was :
You are right, Lovliebutterfly, there are plenty of good reasons to be vegan and veganism is not necessarily associated with sect. But Loving Hut is, definitely. Loving Hut is a restaurant chain owned by "Supreme Master Ching Hai", who pretends to be a world renowned humanitarian, but is also known as the guru of a destructive cult. When you go to any Loving Hut, you can't miss the cult propaganda on the many TV screens in the restaurant rooms. And you'll probably notice the flyers, and maybe some books or DVD for sale. Why? Because Loving Hut is not only an innocent vegan restaurant, it is also a proselytism tool for the sect. And anytime you go to Loving Hut, you participate to the guru's enrichment.
But the food is good, and the staf are nice, that's right.

  8. No, your comment has not censored. But just queued. Anyway, it's true that if these restaurants are owned by Master Ching Hai, then you are enriching her. But the same goes for anywhere you put your money. And not just for that sect. So, this is open for people to decide where they put their money, eventually all monies go to the big banks who control the world... I don't know what the practices of this sect are but everyone has free will and enough intelligence to decide where they put their beliefs in. No one can do something to anyone without that person's agreement, whether they realise it or not. Some people say, 'they had not choice', well that in itself is the choice they made. It is their call to join this sect, enrich it or whatever. As long as there will be money, it is all dirty... eventually.
